"September 25, 2008" For the past 3 months I have been documenting every time I change my outfit. This project stemmed from a group exhibition proposal with SuperGlue, on Code Switching. I am interested in the different ways that people present themselves depending on the occasion. Because clothes are often used as a mode of identifying oneself, the constant changing of our outfits expresses the transient nature of human identity. My documentation is posted here: www.margeauxwalter.com/readytowear
"THREE BY THREE", 2008, A Nine-Channel Video Installation
"Three by Three," a nine-channel video installation by Margeaux Walter, explores potential pressures and expectations that one might feel in response to the rapidly evolving digital revolution.
The monochromatic scenes reflect a streamlined world enabled by technology and devoid of the richness of human interaction. Each channel displays a character whose demeanor ranges from being resigned and anxious, to hopeful and curious. As the video progresses, each looping at a different rate, the interactions between the characters are infinitely changing. This element of randomness allows the characters to both connect at times, and reveal many missed connections. With the art collective Superglue I am leading a series of workshops at the Stanley Isaacs Senior Center. These are photographs from "A Day in the Life," a 4 part photography and bookmaking workshop. So much fun...
I was going through old negatives today and came across this image. I took this shot during a "time-out" from one of my doll project shoots in 2006. This may be one of my favorites...
I decided to start this blog after a visit with my grandparents. I realized I rarely go back and look at the folders of images and documents that I capture and collect on a daily basis. With this blog, I won't loose track of everyday sights, events and moments that I don't want to forget.
